A good winch can give you a lifeline when you get into a sticky situation and also provide you the assurance to go wild in extreme terrains. For this very reason, every off-roader must own a suitable and reliable winch for their vehicle.
Finding a winch for your UTV or ATV is also a difficult task. To help you choose the perfect winch, I’ve reviewed a couple of winch from VENOM.
without further ado, let’s see what these winches are capable of.

Venom Winch Review
1. Venom 5000 lb Winch Review
Specifications- Rated Line Pull: 5000lbs.
- Motor: 12V DC , 1.95hp (1.45kw) Permanent Magnet
- Gear Ratio:136:1
- Cable: 50 ft. Synthetic Dyneema
The first winch I will review today is VENOM Winch 5000LB winch with model specific mount fits for 14-19 POLARIS RZR/RZR 4/GENERAL 900/1000/TURBO RXR RAZOR
This winch is a beefy winch for your beefy UTV/ ATV. It is able to generate 5000 lbs of pulling power, in addition to that it comes with all-metal high-strength 3-Stage Planetary gear which is more than enough for self-recovery.
Personally, I quite like the Dyneema synthetic cable that comes with it as it is much easier to handle, floats in the water, and less likely to cut your hands. It’s lightweight and has more load holding strength than steel cable although it’s less durable due to being abrasion prone. The 50 feet long rope is complemented by a hawse fairlead made of aluminum.
Power generation is handled by a 12V DC 1.95hp permanent magnet motor. Something I’ve noticed about this winch is that the line speed drastically slows down while pulling load higher than 4000 lbs.
It is equipped with convenient features like a free spooling clutch and an automatic braking system for added safety and ease of use. As expected of a UTV winch, this winch can be controlled by a mini-thumb switch and an additional 10 ft long corded remote control. Color-coded wires make the installation process easier.
Pros
- 3 stage planetary gears
- Easy to install
- Dyneema synthetic cable
- Line speed is not as fast while pulling heavier weight
Cons
- No wireless remote control option
2. Venom 4500 lb Winch Review
Specifications- Rated Line Pull: 4500lbs
- Motor: 12V DC , 1.8hp (1.4kw) Permanent Magnet
- Gear Ratio:136:1
- Cable: 50 ft. Synthetic Dyneema
Here is another high quality powerful winch that is designed to meet all your needs with model specific mount fits for 14-19 POLARIS RZR/RZR 4/GENERAL 900/1000/TURBO RXR RAZOR.
In addition to a hugely impressive pulling capacity, this winch also features a triple planetary gear system, which is known for its efficiency.
This is yet another winch with a 50 feet long synthetic Dyneema rope that is accompanied by an aluminum hawse fairlead. It has a safely protected, fully sealed 1.8hp permanent magnet motor with SPS.
It also features a free spooling clutch so that you can pull out the rope without using any power. To keep you in control at all times, the automatic braking system locks the rope to keep the load in place when there’s no power.
Installing this 4500 lbs winch is an easy and efficient process as there are detailed instructions and color coded wires provided. This winch has a corded remote controller that allows you to operate it from a distance of 10 ft and there’s also a mini thumb switch that can be mounted on the handlebars.
Pros
- 3 stage planetary gears
- Easy to install
- Dyneema synthetic cable
Cons
- No wireless remote control option
