Choosing a winch considering it’s all features and price is never an easy task. Lots of people get confused to choose the right winch according to their budget.

This is a common problem that people face in the present time because of the availability of winches in the market.

Rough Country Winch Review

 

1. Rough Country 12000 LB Winch Review

This winch from Rough Country comes to you with an excellent capacity. It got 12000 lbs for recovering purposes. Using this winch, you can easily recover your Truck/Jeep.

Although this winch has 12000 lbs load holding capacity, It is always a safe side to use this for weighing up to 8000 lbs. Because the winch which has 1.5 times more weight capacity than the gross weight, offers you a smooth and safe winching operation.

Apart from the high capacity, this winch is designed with all the standard features – Permanent magnet motors, three-stage planetary gear train and automatic load-holding brake for your better and safe winching operation.

However, the most fascinating thing about this winch is that it has both synthetic rope and steel cable versions available. Both synthetic rope and steel cable is 85 ft long and capable to cover a wide area. A hawse fairlead is also available with this winch that will guide the winch cable.

Whatever there is no wireless remote control with this winch and unfortunately you don’t have the option to purchase it separately. But this winch has a 12 ft long wired remote control to handle the winch.

Although this winch is marked as an IP67 rated waterproof, it is not fully waterproof.

In a nutshell, this winch is a balanced winch comparing all the features and price.

• IP67 rated waterproof.

What I don’t Like

• The power cable is a bit short.
• A wireless remote would have been a great combination.

 

2. Rough Country 9500 LB Winch Review

Key Features:

• 12000 lbs load holding capacity.
• Durable synthetic rope.
• Wired remote control.
• Waterproof.

This is another winch from Rough Country that comes to you offering 9500 lbs which is a bit low from the previously mentioned winch. Using this winch you can easily recover your small and medium loads like SUV, jeep and so on.

This winch holds all the properties, upsides and downsides of the previously mentioned winch except the load capacity and motor power.

The 12000 lbs winch had the series-wound motor of 6HP, whereas the 9500 lbs winch has a series-wound motor of 5.5 HP.

Moreover, this winch also has both synthetic rope and steel cable versions available in the market.

Overall, this winch is a good choice among its competitor considering all the features and prices.
